My sexuality is White Lotus

(I just didn't know it before)

Spoiler alert: there’s a lot to say about The White Lotus finale, though I reach instinctively for what the New Yorker’s legendary film critic Pauline Kale once said when she was interviewed “If you don’t think Godfather 2 is the best film ever made, then fuck you”. If you don’t think Season 3 was White Lotus’ greatest, I don’t know what to tell you. Seasons 1 and 2 were hilarious about the ultra wealthy. Season 3 is more of an outraged call to arms, about the way, beyond how they blow up their own family dynamics, their toxicity trickles down and infects all of us who ever pass their orbit. It is a furious piece and I think much of that is of course the times we live in - the era of Trump, Putin, Andrew Tate, Netanyahu, the Hamas billionaires of Qatar - but also the sense that that write/director Mike White is the Natasha Rothwell character. Unimaginably wealthy now from the sensation he created after years of creative heartache and disappointment such as the prematurely cancelled masterpiece ‘Enlightened’, he took the five million because doesn’t he deserve a break once in this lifetime?
